Air
quality is constantly in the news, especially during the summer when
ozone levels can soar. This is when the public is asked to reduce
driving by carpooling, taking public transportation, or telecommuting.
But despite all the media blitz, it can be difficult to fully understand
the issues that make up air quality.
This curriculum is designed to introduce students in a
step-wise fashion to the subjects of the atmosphere, weather, and air
pollution in the Tulsa Area. Designed to supplement science classes, the
curriculum can be used in its totality, or teachers may choose only
those elements they wish. Overheads, activities, and World Wide Web
links ensure this is a “hands on” curriculum with minimal lecture time.
The Tulsa Outdoor Air Quality Curriculum is a step towards completing
the Oklahoma Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS) for science,
health, and information technology literacy. Lessons and Activities have been compiled through various sources by the Indian Nation Council of Governments. This project was financed whole or in part by funds from the Department of Energy as administered by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
