The Liberty Trail is the newest trail in the Tulsa Area Trail system.  Finished along with the South Loop of the Creek Turnpike, the trail follows the turnpike for almost it's entire length.  Some parts of the trail are hilly for two reasons.  First, the natural topography of the area is hilly.  Second, many of the street crossings are at-grade meaning that the trail rises to the level of the street crossing.  Most of the street crossings have traffic signals, making it easier for pedestrians to cross.

Although housing development is rapidly moving out since the construction of the turnpike, much of the land surrounding the turnpike is rural, sometimes horses can be seen grazing along the way.  The trail is maintained by the Broken Arrow Parks Department.

Although the Creek Turnpike runs parallel to the trail, road noise is not a problem.  The traffic on this stretch of road is only moderate, and there is little tractor-trailer traffic, making it a pleasurable walking or biking experience.
